INSECURITY: Good News To Nigerians As President Buhari Takes This Decision

As the nation continues to grapple with Banditry, kidnapping, insurgency, and other forms of terrorism, Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigerian President called for a meeting of the National Security Council yesterday at Aso Rock, Abuja

The meeting was to map out plans aimed at stemming the continuous act of lawless unnecessary killings.

This comes in no more than 24 hours after the Boko Haram terrorist group stepped up their attacks on Nigeria by storming Kanamma, the Headquarters of Yunusani Local Government Area of Yobe State, and leaving death, destruction on their paths.

Before then, barely a week earlier, the insurgents had also invaded Geidam where over 6000 people were displaced from their homes due to the wanton destruction that occasioned the coming of the Boko Haram fighters.

In Kaduna state, reports have it yesterday that in the preceding months of 2021, no fewer than 323 people were killed while over 949 were also kidnapped by bandits.

The National Security Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari, Major- General Babagana Monguno (rtd), said in a statement after meeting with the president, that he, President Muhammadu Buhari was now ready more than ever before to put paid to the activities of terrorists, bandits, and all other forms of insecurity in Nigeria.

He added that to finalize discussions on how to end insecurity in Nigeria, the National security Council holds yet another meeting next week Tuesday.

According to the NSA, while the insurgents continue to carry on their nefarious activities and harming innocent Nigerians, President Buhari and the National Security Council are preparing to interact with security chiefs towards arriving at a conclusion and taking action to put a final stop to terrorism in Nigeria.

He stressed the willingness of President Buhari to take drastic measures that is in the interest of a greater number of Nigerians adding that for the President, there is no resting until total peace is restored to Nigeria.

General Monguno said the National security meeting was called by the President because he (The President) was very worried about the turn of activities of the criminals in the country arecently.

He expressed the confidence of the President that the country will overcome the present challenges bedeviling her. security agencies shall soon wipe out the scourge of insurgency in Nigeria to the joy of all concerned Nigerians.
